Growing too fast!

I've always heard people say how their kids grow up way too fast. But honestly, that is an understatement. I feel like i just gave birth, but Waiola is already 8 weeks old. And my tiny little boy, who was only 6 lbs when we left the hospital, is already surpassing 10 lbs, and outgrowing so many things. Some of his outfits don't fit anymore, I had to adjust the straps on his car seat and take out the newborn insert, and now...he has to sit up in the bathtub because he's too heavy for the sling. He's not protesting, as you can tell. In fact, I think he likes the big boy stuff better, but I'm definately having issues with my boy growing too fast.

Waiola and Papa

My dad NEVER leaves Kauai. But in the past 7 weeks, since waiola was born, he's come to honolulu. . . TWICE! Yep...my dad adores his grandson. He can't wait till he can stand, simply because that's the day he can take him surfing. When I found out I was having a boy, Aho said, "Great...he can be a police officer." My dad, on the other hand, said, "Nope...he's gonna be a professional surfer." Either way...he is Papa's boy.

First Official Smiles!

At our 6 week visit to the doc, my pediatrician told me Waiola would soon achieve his social smile, instead of just smiling from gas. I couldn't wait. Then...one saturday morning...there it was. He and I went downstairs for our morning playtime while daddy slept, and once I started talking to him, he couldn't stop smiling.

7 Weeks...and Too Cute for Mommy!

Luckily, as a gift, one of my Aunties got us a camera. It is fabulous! And one Sunday after church, when Waiola was 7 weeks old, I just couldn't stop taking pictures of him. I started playing around with all the functions on the camera, trying to capture his cuteness. Sepia, Black and White, Color, flash...no flash. I took so many pictures. Plus...it was the first time he was wearing "big boy clothes" instead of just a onesie. He had on the cutest pair of overalls that Aunty Lohi and Uncle Cameron got for him. I can't get over how precious he is.

Our First Trip to Kauai

It was so hot...my baby had to be naked!

Tutu gave him all his baths and couldn't help
taking pictures of him in his frog towel.

Papa took lots of pictures!

Even Puna couldn't stay away from him. She kept kissing him and kissing him.

When Waiola was about 4 weeks old, we went home to Kauai. Aho couldn't come because he had to work, but we went for a whole week. Tutu and Papa missed him so much and were so excited to have him for a whole week. When he wasn't sleeping, Tutu was carrying him. When he was fussy, Papa would talk to him to calm him down. And anytime he would move or make a sound, Puna would come and let me know. It was hillarious!

The two Ahonuis

With our family's crazy schedule, it's rare for the two Ahonuis to be at home and awake at the same time. But when they are...they are so cute together. I don't know who adores the other one more. Daddy Aho is so cute and sweet with his son, and little Aho...always listens to and smiles for his daddy.

His First Bath!

Three days after we came home from the hospital...at a whopping 5 days old, Waiola's piko fell off. I couldn't believe it! And I was so excited to give him his first bath. I knew he would be a water baby because the whole time I was pregnant, he loved it when I was in the water. It was the only time he would be calm. So it really was no surprise when he loved his first bath. In fact, the only part he didn't love was getting out.

August 3, 2008

We're going to back track a little just so everyone isn't left out completely.
So...starting from the beginning...
Nolan Keahonuiwaiolakahemauikekumuokaponomauloa Del Toro
was born on Sunday, August 3, 2008, at 11:10am. He weighed 6lbs, 6.3 oz
and measured 19 in. long. He came three weeks earlier than we expected,
and my water broke at 4 in the morning, but to me...he was right on time.
In fact, I believe that he is so obedient that he actually listened to me
from the womb when I told him he needed to come early...I was ready.
This is the photo we used for his birth announcements. He was 12 days
old and already such a poser.

Joining the club...

At the encouragement of Cam and Lohi...I'm starting a blog. I highly doubt that I'll spend much time here, but I figure that whatever time I do spend blogging will be worth it. Besides, our son is already two months old and I feel like the days are just slipping by, so I need to start some sort of journaling and I figure this will work great. And I know I'm extremely biased in thinking that he's adorable, but I feel the need to share our pictures of our gorgeous son with everyone. =) So, we're joining the club! Hopefully we can do as good as everyone else.
