Kauai Trip

Every once in a while we run home to Kauai for a short vacation. More often than not, we end up staying at home and just hanging out in the yard. But, with Ola getting older and being interested in so many things, we were a little more adventurous this trip.

My mom said that there was a train exhibit at the museum in town and a train on the front lawn. Since Ola has developed a love of trains, we decided we'd stop by and take a look. He was SO excited!
I, however, was a little confused. What's with the wheels on this train? That doesn't look right. Turns out, it wasn't a train, it was a steam plow. But...ask me if Ola knew the difference...or if he would have cared.
After we left the museum we stopped at the mall. That might normally be boring for a little boy, but not when you give him his own Jamba Juice. As you can tell, it's not hard to make this kid happy.
As usual, we had to go to the beach. Ola was totally content playing with his beach toys.
But then he got into the water and started getting a little too....un-afraid. A toddler running full steam into waves bigger than his tiny body = time to go home.
That night, we took the boys to their first Bon Dance. I knew Ola would love it because of the music and the dancing, but he literally would not take his eyes off the dancers. Even Guri-Guri wasn't enough to distract him. While we were there, Tutu found out what time the plantation train ride was and we just HAD to take him. He fell asleep on the way there, but he was wide eyed as soon as he saw the train.

The plantation has donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, and pigs, and halfway through the ride we were able to get off and feed the pigs. Once again, Ola had a blast!
All in all it was a very busy weekend. Ola was so happy to spend time with his Tutu and Papa and be able to do so many fun things. Oh, and just in case you're wondering where Kupa'a was the whole time...he was there. He was sleeping...
