busy week

We have sure had a busy week. We ended last week by having Ola start putting himself to sleep. That first night was awesome. He slept 5 1/2 hours in his first stretch, which is amazing compared to the last 4 months of 1 - 2 hours. We were so excited to get him used to putting himself to sleep...and then he caught a cold. Nothing big, just a cough and runny nose, but that meant no crying to sleep for fear of an ear infection. So we had to stay all bundled up and warm, especially on Tuesday when we had breakfast at Aunty Lani's house. Breakfast was great and Ola was a peach just crawling around and exploring a different living room. He wasn't playing very nicely though. After Ola grabbed his face a few times, poor Ender had to pretend to read a book so Ola would leave him alone.

Since he'd lost his appetite the week before, Ola hadn't been eating very much and I was trying to find something that would interest him. So, Tuesday night, I thought we should try something new, and I got Ola some star puffs. That first night, he was kind of just squishing them with his sweaty hands (yes, he got that from me), but by day 2, he had it down. He picks up one at a time, chomps it a couple times with his two tiny teeth, then smashes it around in his mouth till it's gone. It is so impressive to watch how fast children can learn new skills. And he definately LOVES to eat his stars.

Thursday, Aho suggested we take an adventure and we went to Target with Cam and Lohi. I was SOOOOO excited! I got Ola a couple of outfits and Aho got a record player, which he's been dying to get for a long time.

Then we went over to Cam and Lohi's. Ola was in heaven, with more toys than he knew what to do with. I've been told that my house doesn't have enough toys since the video of Ola crawling shows a clean living room floor and him playing with the door. I promise...he is so not deprived.

We've also been working on having Ola pull himself up. We were practicing at Cam and Lohi's, but giving him a lot of help. Apparently, he was paying attention. Tonight, Aho went up to check on him while he was supposed to be going to sleep, and there he was, standing at the side rail of his crib. We had to lower his mattress and start over again, but 5 minutes later, there he was, standing at the side rail again. I just had to laugh. It's a good thing he's so cute, cause you just can't get mad at this kid.

To finish off a busy week, Ola and I are off to Kauai tomorrow for a day visit, and then Sunday we get to spend the day at church. Should be a good end to a busy busy week.
